Initial Guard Card Course

This 8-hour Mandatory course covers the Powers to Arrest and Weapons of Mass Destruction required by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS).

Mandatory Training Courses

An additional 16-hours of Mandatory Training is required within 30 days of receiving your Guard Card approval from BSIS. Each Mandatory Course is worth 4hrs of credit time.

BSIS requires that all Security Officers complete an additional 16-hours of Elective courses within the first 6 months of receiving a Guard Card.

CPR/AED/Basic First Aid
Students will learn CPR, rescue breathing, AED and some basic First Aid (4hr BSIS elective credit)

O.C.A.T. "Pepper Spray"
This 4 hour class will teach the general operation and use of OC, focusing on:
- When to use OC
- Recognizing the Threat and Regaining Control of the Situation
- Training Exercises (Methods of Carrying, Defensive Positions, and Spraying Techniques)
(4 hour BSIS elective credit)

BSIS Expandable Baton Course
Participants of this 4 hour course will be trained in the following areas for proper use:
- Baton Familiarization and Uses
- First Aid for Baton
- Fundamentals of Baton Handling
- California Penal Code Sections
