Public Safety Training, Inc. Was formed to increase the level of training in the Private Security, Law Enforcement, and Medical professions. All instructors are state/county certified to teach the level of instruction in their area of expertise by the bureau of security and investigative services, POST (Peace Officer Standards of Training), EMSA (Emergency Medical Services Authority), NRA/NRA Law Enforcement (National Rifile Association) and DOJ (Department of Justice). We at PSTI are committed to the level of professionalism in our industry and strive to update all training courses as new material as it becomes available to us by all training sources.

Mission Statement

From the beginning, we at Public Safety Training, Inc. were convinced that a private security training company in executive protection, Security Officer, Law Enforcement, and Medical Training had to establish a reputation based upon a high degree of professionalism in the field and highest caliber of training available in the private sector. PSTI's staff are immediately recognizable authorities in their respective professions. It has been one of the hallmarks of PSTI's national reputation that its staff are among the best in the country and its training standards comparable on an international scale.

Company History

PSTI was conceived by Carl T. Dougherty,Jr. in 2008. PSTI was founded as a closely held California Corporation and as a career school approved and regulated by the California Department of Security and investigated Services under the Private Security Occupational Education Act. PSTI is a unique institution as one of the few private schools in the country that offers more than 200 hours of training in Executive Protection, Security officer, NRA, and Medical training . In addition, PSTI provides training programs for Law Enforcement agencies, property and perimeter security for estates and businesses, as well as custom designed security training for corporations.

In 2010, PSTI received approval for its BSIS Security and NRA Law Enforcement training Programs, which was further expanded to become a highly regarded Security officer, Dignatary protection, firearms and medical training program. PSTI evolved a two week training program that included all the theory and practical training components of in full time format in which students complete all of the training in classroom or practical field training.

By private arrangements, PSTI provides training to corporations, security, police and military agencies anywhere in the State. PSTI offers specialty courses for executives and programs for corporations that allow for custom designed security training programs. PSTI also offers training programs in Washington State. Currently we can also teach our DOJ HSC Firearms curriculum, and Medical courses in Spanish.
